The Weld Star ER410 Stainless Steel TIG Wire is a martensitic stainless steel filler designed for welding and repair of 12% chromium stainless steels and for corrosion-resistant overlay on carbon steels. It is commonly used where resistance to heat, erosion, and abrasion is required in demanding service conditions.
Containing sufficient carbon to allow air-hardening, the weld metal transforms to a predominantly martensitic microstructure, delivering high strength and wear resistance. Pre-heat and post-weld heat treatment are recommended to achieve adequate ductility and toughness for many engineering applications, particularly in heat-affected or high-stress components.
Key Features
Martensitic Stainless Alloy: Produces a predominantly martensitic weld structure for high strength and wear resistance.
Overlay and Repair Capability: Suitable for corrosion- and erosion-resistant surfacing on carbon steels as well as stainless repair work.
High-Temperature Performance: Ideal for components exposed to elevated temperatures such as furnace and turbine parts.
Air-Hardening Weld Metal: Carbon content enables transformation hardening without quenching.
Engineering-Grade Welds: Pre-heat and post-weld heat treatment improve ductility for structural and mechanical service.
Consistent Quality: Manufactured from virgin raw materials by specialised steel mills for dependable composition and performance.
Standards Compliance: EN ISO 14343-A – W 13 | AWS A5.9 – ER 410.
Typical Chemical Composition (%): C: 0.015 | Mn: 0.55 | Si: 0.48 | S: 0.004 | P: 0.028 | Ni: 0.37 | Cr: 12.90 | Mo: 0.08 | Cu: 0.15.
Mechanical Properties (Typical): Tensile Strength: ≥450 MPa | Yield Strength: ≥250 MPa | Elongation: ≥15% (Values may vary depending on welding parameters, base material, and shielding gas).
Shielding Gas: TIG – I1 (Argon) per EN ISO 14175.
Welding Positions: PA, PB, PC, PD, PE, PF, PG per EN ISO 6947.
Workshop-Friendly Packaging: Available in TIG diameters 1.60mm, 2.40mm and 3.20mm, supplied in 5 kg packs with 1000mm rod length for professional workshop and site use.
