These 2 % Thoriated Tungsten TIG Electrodes are premium TIG electrodes designed for reliable, high‑quality welding on mild steel, stainless steel, nickel alloys and other metals. The thoria‑doped tungsten delivers excellent electron emission, ensuring easy arc start, stable arc behaviour, and high current‑carrying capacity — making them ideal for DC TIG welding and many workshop applications.
Available in various diameters and lengths, you can choose the electrode size suited to your material thickness and TIG setup — from fine welding on thin sheet to heavier TIG jobs needing stronger arcs.
Compliant with ANSI/AWS A5 12-92 - BS EN 150 6848:2015
Key Features
2% Thoriated Tungsten Alloy (EWTh‑2 / WT20) — Thoria‑enhanced tungsten gives high electron emission, aiding arc ignition and delivering dependable arc stability under load.
High Current Capacity & Low Wear — These electrodes operate well below their melting point, reducing consumption, minimising tungsten inclusion in welds, and extending electrode life.
Excellent Arc Stability & Control — Great for DC TIG welding of carbon steel, stainless, nickel and titanium. Provides strong arc, solid penetration, and clean weld beads when prepared correctly.
Multiple Sizes Available — Choose from a range of diameters/lengths to match your TIG machine settings and material thickness — giving flexibility for thin‑sheet, structural or mixed welding tasks.
Versatile Use Cases — Suitable for fabrication, repairs, structural welding, maintenance tasks, and any TIG work requiring stable arc and weld quality across steels and alloys.
