The Weld Star A33 (ER 90S-B3) TIG Wire is a copper-coated low-alloy welding filler wire specifically formulated for TIG (GTAW) welding of creep-resisting steels — particularly those with approx. 2.25 % chromium and 1 % molybdenum content. This makes it well-suited to applications where welds must withstand elevated temperatures and demanding service environments, such as pressure piping, boiler and heat-exchanger fabrication, and petrochemical processing equipment.
Manufactured from high-quality virgin raw materials for consistent performance, the ER 90S-B3 TIG wire produces strong, reliable welds with robust mechanical properties and excellent heat resistance.
Key Features
Copper-Coated Low-Alloy Steel Wire: Designed for TIG welding heat-resisting low-alloy steels such as 10CrMo9-10, 12CrMoSi8 and similar grades commonly used in high-temperature environments.
High-Temperature Performance: Particularly suited to service temperatures up to approx. 600 °C, making it ideal for boilers, steam piping and heat exchangers.
Superior Mechanical Properties: Typical deposited weld metal achieves high tensile strength (~640 MPa), robust yield (~540 MPa) and good elongation (~22 %), ensuring welded joints remain tough under stress.
Excellent Bead Quality: Stable TIG arc with high-quality weld bead and good fusion characteristics — especially beneficial in structural and pressure-containing applications.
Standards Compliance: Meets EN ISO 21952-B (2C1M) and AWS A5.28 ER 90S-B3 specifications — delivering consistent chemical and performance properties.
Industry Applications: Widely used in steam power plants, petrochemical equipment, boilers, pressure piping, heat exchangers, and general high-temperature structural work requiring creep resistance and strength.
Shielding Gas: TIG welding with 100 % argon recommended per industry standards.
Available Sizes: Supplied on 5 kg spools with common diameters (e.g., 1.60 mm, 2.40 mm, 3.20 mm) and 1000 mm length per spool - ideal for workshop use.
