The 1.1mm Shielded Back Striking Contact Tip is a premium, high durability consumable designed for modern plasma torches (typically the PT-80 / iPT-80 series). What sets this tip apart is its Shielded architecture; it is engineered to be used with a secondary shield cap, allowing the operator to perform "drag cutting." This means you can rest the torch head directly on the workpiece for maximum stability without the risk of the tip fusing to the metal.
Optimised for 50-60 Amp performance, the 1.1mm orifice is ideal for structural steel and medium plate fabrication. The Back Striking (Blow Back) mechanism ensures clean, reliable arc ignition without high frequency interference, making it safe for CNC electronics. This shielded design is particularly effective during the "piercing" phase of a cut, as it acts as a barrier against molten metal blow back, the leading cause of premature tip failure in high power plasma systems.
Key Features
Drag Cutting Performance: Designed for use with a shield cap, allowing for direct contact with the metal for smoother, more stable manual cuts.
Superior Orifice Protection: The shielded design significantly reduces damage from molten splash during piercing, extending the tip's service life.
Blow Back Ignition (Back Striking): Reliable, non-HF starts that eliminate electronic noise, essential for CNC plasma tables.
High Duty 50-60A Capacity: Precision bored for medium gauge plate, providing a balance of speed and edge quality.
CNC Compatibility: The preferred tip for automated tables where consistent standoff and tip protection are critical.
Premium Copper Metallurgy: High thermal conductivity keeps the tip cooler, maintaining the 1.1mm orifice shape for squarer cuts.
