The Weld Star ER120S-G TIG Wire (Mn4Ni2.5CrMo) is an ultra-high-strength, copper-coated filler developed for TIG (GTAW) welding of fine-grained structural steels with yield strengths exceeding 890 MPa. It is specifically designed for demanding applications where maximum joint strength and structural integrity are critical.

Offering excellent impact toughness at low temperatures and outstanding plasticity of the weld deposit, this wire is widely used in heavy engineering sectors including lifting and handling machinery, bridges, tanks, transport equipment, shipbuilding, rail infrastructure, mining, cranes and large structural frames.

Key Features

Ultra-High Strength Alloy: ER120S-G (Mn4Ni2.5CrMo) designed for steels exceeding 890 MPa yield strength.

Excellent Low-Temperature Toughness: Maintains strong impact resistance (60 J) at temperatures down to –40 °C.

Crack-Resistant Weld Metal: Nickel, chromium and molybdenum alloying improves resistance to cold cracking and weld defects.

Ideal for Heavy Structural Fabrication: Suitable for bridges, cranes, transport equipment, shipbuilding and mining machinery.

Strong and Ductile Weld Deposits: High tensile strength combined with excellent plasticity for reliable structural joints.

Consistent Quality: Manufactured from virgin raw materials by specialised steel mills for dependable chemistry and performance.

Standards Compliance: EN ISO 16834-A – Mn4Ni2.5CrMo | AWS A5.28 – ER120S-G.

Typical Chemical Composition (%): C: 0.11 | Si: 0.70 | Mn: 1.90 | Cr: 0.50 | Ni: 2.50 | Mo: 0.50 | P & S: <0.015 | Cu: <0.25 | Al: <0.01 | V: <0.03 | Ti: 0.08 | Zr: <0.05.

Mechanical Properties (Typical): Tensile Strength: 1040 MPa | Yield Strength: 960 MPa | Elongation: 16% | Impact Strength: 60 J @ –40 °C (Values may vary depending on welding parameters, base material and shielding gas).
