The Weld Star ER5356 (AlMg5) Aluminium TIG Wire is a high-magnesium aluminium filler designed for TIG (GTAW) welding of medium- and high-strength aluminium alloys containing up to approximately 5 % magnesium. With its elevated magnesium content, ER5356 delivers stronger weld metal and excellent resistance to corrosion — especially in marine and outdoor environments — compared with general-purpose aluminium rods.
This versatile welding wire can be used on a wide range of 5xxx series aluminium alloys and is suitable for both structural fabrication and repair applications. It also performs well when anodising is required, making it a popular choice in automotive, boatbuilding, storage tank, pressure vessel and lightweight structural work.
ER5356 aluminum welding wire is designed for welding aluminum alloys, particularly the 5xxx series. It is one of the most widely used wires thanks to its excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. Manufactured according to EN ISO 18273, it ensures durable welds in automotive, construction, and marine industries.

Shielding Gas: TIG – I1, I3 (Argon) per EN ISO 14175.
Welding Positions: PA, PB, PC, PD, PE, PF, PG per EN ISO 6947.
Workshop-Friendly Packaging: Supplied on 2.5kg spools with common TIG diameters 2.40mm; each spool 1000mm in length.
