The Weld Star ER5556 (AlMg5Mn) TIG Wire is a high-strength aluminium-magnesium filler designed for TIG (GTAW) welding of 5xxx-series aluminium alloys containing up to 5.3% magnesium. It is formulated to deliver the highest as-welded strength in fillet welds while maintaining excellent corrosion resistance, toughness and weldability.
This alloy is widely used in demanding structural applications such as general construction, military equipment, pressure vessels and storage tanks, where mechanical strength and durability are essential. ER5556 is not recommended for elevated temperature service but excels in ambient and moderate-temperature environments requiring strong, corrosion-resistant welds.
