The Weld Star FN 55 (E NiFe-Cl) TIG wire is a ferro-nickel solid filler metal designed for TIG (GTAW) welding of cast iron, ductile iron and related materials. It is especially effective for welding grey, malleable and nodular cast irons, and for joining cast iron to mild steel, low-alloy steel or even stainless steel — helping simplify repair and fabrication work across mixed materials.

This nickel-iron alloy TIG wire is well suited for jobs where surface contamination (e.g., sulphur, phosphorus, lubricants) might otherwise affect weld quality, and produces ductile weld deposits with good resistance to cracking and porosity.

Key Features

Ferro-Nickel (NiFe-Cl) Filler: Specially formulated for cast iron welding and dissimilar joints between cast iron and steels.

Good Weldability: Produces strong, ductile welds with good wetting and low crack tendency — even on sulphur- or lubricant-contaminated castings.

Versatile Base Material Compatibility: Suitable for grey cast iron, malleable and nodular irons — and for joining these materials to mild, low-alloy or stainless steels.

Suitable for Repair & Fabrication: Ideal for rebuilding shafts, wheels, housings, critical joints, machine components and other cast iron parts with mismatched materials.

Suitable Shielding Gas: Recommended for TIG welding with 100 % argon (I1 per EN ISO 14175) to protect the weld pool and ensure clean fusion.

Stability & Feedability: Precision layer wound on 5 kg spool — suitable for reliable feeding in standard TIG setups.

Conforms to Standards: Meets EN ISO 1071 (SC NiFe-1) and AWS A5.15 (E NiFe-CI) filler metal classifications for cast iron TIG welding.

Workshop-Friendly Packaging: Supplied on 5kg spools with common TIG diameters 1.60mm and 2.40mm; each spool 1000mm in length.
