An inline oxygen flashback arrestor is an essential safety device for any oxy-fuel welding, cutting or brazing setup. It prevents the flame from travelling back up the gas line - protecting the cylinder/regulator and hoses from potential explosion or fire should a flashback or burn-back occur.
Fitted between the regulator and the torch (or at a suitable point in the gas line), this arrestor acts as a critical line of defence, giving you increased safety and peace of mind each time you light up to either weld or cut.
Key Features
Flame Arrestor Element: A sintered-metal (or stainless-steel) flame-quenching element that extinguishes any backwards flame, stopping it from travelling further up the line.
Non-Return Valve (Check Valve): Prevents reverse gas flow — stopping fuel/oxygen from mixing or travelling backwards toward the cylinder or regulator in case of a flashback or hose failure.
Thermal Cut-off Valve: If internal temperature rises beyond a certain threshold (for example during a sustained burn-back or external heat), the valve automatically shuts off gas flow for added safety.
Pressure-Shock / Burn-Back Shut-off: In the event of a sudden pressure surge or shock (common in flashback events), the valve mechanism cuts off the gas supply to prevent further danger.
Standard Thread Connections: Typically supplied with standard 3/8″ BSP (or equivalent) fittings for easy installation onto most regulators or gas setups.
